Guest Post Guidelines: Read through our 10 Guest Post Guidelines to Get Started

You would like to contribute a post for Techviral.

You have come to the right spot! These guidelines will help you ensure that your pitch is in line with our editors. We would love to read your ideas for posts about freelance writing.

Asim Boss founded Techviral with a simple goal: to help writers find better-paying jobs, pitch better, improve their craft, and even become authors.

Why do we Charge/Pay writers for guest posts

Guest posters should be paid if a blog is making money. Carol began paying guest posts after the blog started earning income in 2010.

Rates in our Guest Post Guidelines

Guest posts are currently $75-$150. Higher fees apply to longer and more in-depth pieces that are written for assignments only. All rights are ours and we require that your post is unique and not copied elsewhere.

Your guest post ideas should be about…

Which topics do we want to assign? We are looking for posts on the following topics based on reader requests:

  • Blogging: How to increase traffic, build your email list, guest post, convert, and use blogging to find freelance clients (should include screenshots, data, and social proof).
  • How/where can you find great beginner markets?
  • Copywriting: Strategies and tips for creating headlines, email campaigns and lead magnets.
  • Q&A with editors: What are editors really looking for? Talk to others in the same niche and share your knowledge with us.
  • Ghostwriting: How can you find clients for ghostwriting? What should your fees be? Is there a ghostwriting platform that connects writers with clients? What is it like to work as a ghostwriter
  • Juggling: First-person accounts on how to balance a part-time job or full-time job with your family and children. Freelance writing.
  • Making the leap: How can you make the transition from full-time employment to freelancing?
  • Market reports: Interviews with company executives and top writers from the platform.
  • Marketing: How to find freelance writers prospects and clients. Tips for marketing freelancers.
  • You can move up and make more. First-person accounts of how you got your first client, raised your rates and sold a large project to a client. Also, how you broke into a new type of writing. Learn how to find better clients.
  • Overcoming Fear: First-person stories, new slants and techniques on how to overcome fear, put your writing out there despite any fears, and how to build confidence.
  • Productivity: New tips, tricks, or insights about time management, procrastination, avoiding distractions and staying motivated.
  • Resources/tools/Best Sites: Looking for longer, 50-100-item resource posts for freelancer writers.
  • Success stories from self-publishing: We would love to hear about authors who are successful in marketing and selling e-books.
  • Success stories in social media marketing: Stories from established and emerging platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn.
  • Writing craft: Practical approaches and exercises to improve your writing.

Which address should you send your pitch to?

Make sure your pitch falls within our guest post guidelines and then email it over to our blog editor at techviral.tech@gmail.com .

Do you have the ability to pitch right now?

I accept only guest posts from current and former Freelance Writers Den members and students and graduates of Jon Morrow’s SmartBlogger.com mentoring program.

Sometimes, I host an open pitch time. Like my Facebook Page if you would like to pitch me but have not been through either of these programs. I post there whenever I’m open for pitches from anyone.

Techviral: 10 steps to guest posting

These are my guidelines for guest posts:

1. Subscribe to this blog to enjoy it for a while. Nearly all of our guest posts are successful because of regular readers.

2. These guidelines are for guest posts. Please read and follow them. You would be shocked at how many people have approached me to write guest posts, even though they haven’t read this page.

3. In the body of your email, please submit your best headline idea and outline for your guest post. We may ask you for tweaks if you are interested in the assignment.

4. Not receiving an assignment does not guarantee publication. Remember to make it a good assignment.

5. Pay on publication at the end of each month. There is often a backlog of guest posts. We only publish 4-5 per month so it could take 8-10 weeks to get your post published. Your post will be paid via Paypal at the end. Please ensure that we have the correct Paypal email.

6. We purchase exclusive rights to publish your work the first time and in the reprint. We reserve the right to reprint your post on any of my other websites, as well as future books and e-books that I create.

7. Do not submit pre-written posts without first completing an assignment. They will not be published or read.

8. We prefer guest posts between 800 and 1,200 words (unless you are given a specific idea from the above list at a length we agree on).

9. We do not pay experts who want to guest post in advance of appearing on one of my podcasts or Webinars. This is also true for those who are writing to promote a book or course. We may publish your guest post if it contains useful, fresh information for freelance writers. However, we do not pay.

10. Please respond to my comments on Facebook the day after your post goes live. Your help in driving engagement and sharing the post on social media is part of what we pay. If you are unavailable for payment, your post may not be published.

Sound good? Email editor@makealivingwriting.com to submit your guest post headline and outline.

We do not accept PAID ADS, SPONSORED POSTS, LINKS, or Paid ADS.

We don’t accept guest posts from companies or agencies that are looking to create links. It’s possible to skip pitching us. You can take us off of your list right now. You can publish your sponsored post with links or you can go back to an older post and insert your link. It’s not going to happen. Thanks.

If you are interested, we will reply.

We are unable to reply to every pitch because of the sheer volume of submissions we receive. You might try rereading this page to get a better understanding of your proposal.

For example, I would say that well over half of the pitches we receive have obvious grammar mistakes or are on a topic we don’t cover here. Be a good writer.
