Why Discord Lags When I Play Games

If you are experiencing Discord lag while playing games, there are a few possible causes. One of these is an outdated graphics driver. Updating your video card’s graphics drivers will increase your gaming performance. You can find updated video cards drivers by visiting your video card manufacturer’s website. Otherwise, it’s worth checking your Discord application’s settings and software. If none of these steps resolve your lag problem, try the following fixes.

First, make sure Discord is not conflicting with any other programs on your system. To see which apps may be interfering with the Discord application, open the Task Manager by clicking on the taskbar. Alternatively, press Shift + Ctrl + Esc at the same time. Then, click on Apps and background processes. Usually, this should solve the problem. Alternatively, try deleting the Discord cache files and browsing history.

If none of these steps fixes the issue, you may need to optimize your network. To do this, click on the Network icon in your system’s Taskbar and select Network and Internet Settings. Once there, click the Reset Network Settings button. Note that this reset will remove any saved WIFI password and special network settings. After you have performed this, restart your computer. A recent update incompatible with Discord may also be the culprit. If this is the case, download and install the latest update for your device.
