The double-die effect on this coin is visible when viewed under a loupe or microscope. Mint numismatists and coin collectors will catalog these coins and indicate them as Double Die Obverse and Reverse. Coins with more pronounced doubling tend to command a premium on the market. This effect is especially visible on the 1916 Indian Head Doubled Die Obverse. It is highly prized and is considered a collectible by collectors.
