Spider-Man Games on the Xbox 360
While Sony is the sole licensee for the Spider-Man movie franchise, they also own the rights to the video games based on the character. Earlier this year, Sony and Activision parted ways over the future of Spider-Man games. The two sides were unhappy with the quality of Activision’s games, and Marvel approached the PlayStation and Xbox software companies to make the games. While this arrangement was unsuccessful, the future of Spider-Man games on the Xbox consoles is still up in the air.
The Sony PlayStation partnership paves the way for the next Spider-Man game. Sony and Microsoft had originally considered striking a deal to publish a Spider-Man game together, but Xbox had rejected the idea. Sony, on the other hand, was more than willing to consider a deal if it meant creating a Spider-Man game that would “beat” the new Arkham Asylum game. Fortunately, Sony trusted developer Insomniac with the game.
One of the more recent Spider-Man video games was the re-release of the classic game Spider-Man. The PlayStation 2 version released Spider-Man: Friend or Foe on October 2, 2007. This game is more of a traditional beat-’em-up than a platformer, and it features characters from outside of the films. It also includes a game for two players called Spider-Man: Friend or Foe.
Another new Spider-Man video game was developed by Treyarch and was made available for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PC. It included five original video games, and required players to learn trivia about Spider-Man. Additionally, they required players to navigate through a mission-based text game. These games were also released for mobile devices, with the first coming out in early 2007 and the second one following in September 2007.
There are also new Spider-Man games coming out this year, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and Avengers. Insomniac Games has previously developed the games based on the Spider-Man series, and the latest release is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Midnight Suns, which is a sequel to the highly popular game. Spider-Man is an excellent game for both consoles and has a large fan following.
Sony also released a sequel to Spider-Man: The Video Game in 1996. It was the third best-selling video game in Sony’s history, selling over 20 million copies in less than three months. Miles Morales’ game, titled Spider-Man: The Return of the Sinister Six, has sold 6.5 million units and has been included in the NPD’s Top 20 video games. Insomniac has also begun to develop another game for the Wolverine character.
The next Spider-Man game for the Xbox is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. This is a 2011 adventure game developed by Beenox and Activision. In this game, Spider-Man travels through time and space and meets two different versions of the hero. Unlike the earlier game, it has a storyline that involves the invasion of the Venom virus, and the moral choices of Spider-Man will play a large part in the game’s story.
Another sequel to the Spider-Man franchise is The Punisher: The Ultimate Payback! developed by Australian company Beam Software. It is similar to Operation Wolf and involves killing a villain to protect innocent people. The game includes a variety of levels and bosses. Players must solve puzzles to advance to the next level. In the game, Spider-Man appears and offers advice on levels. The game also allows two players to play together.
After Spider-Man: The Fall of X-Men and Rise of the Imperfects, the game’s sequel was delayed. It is due for release on the PlayStation 5 in 2023. Tony Todd from the movie Candyman will play the villain, Venom. The game’s developers, however, didn’t release it on PC. As a result, the PlayStation 3 version was released instead. The game was a critically acclaimed success.
